Gourmet is often used as a distinguishing word for foods of that with high quality, where special efforts and artistic flare are used by the preparers or makers in the arrangement or cooking of any sumptuous meal. The word has a connotation for elitism in eating preferences and is repeatedly used to describe people of refined taste and obsession for food. The word gourmet is from the French term for a wine broker employed by a wine trader who has a trustworthy name for being an aficionado of delicious things that were not eaten mainly for nourishment.

You can get all kinds of gourmet food guides no matter where you want to travel. There are several different places that offer gourmet food guides for their state or even the diverse larger cities. With these food guides, you can enjoy the best gourmet foods in every place, state or country you wish to visit. With a gourmet food guide in your hand, you will be able to find the most delectable foods such as seafood, chocolate, cheese, wines, and other traditional dishes of each locality. You can even enjoy various walking tours that mark a variety of restaurants that recommend gourmet food. All of these gourmet food guides should help your taste buds enjoy the vacation as much as you.

It is now possible to purchase gourmet food online, particularly when you are short on time. Leading the kind of busy lives most of us do, often we just do not have sufficient time for researching recipes and shopping for groceries in supermarkets, let alone spending hours in the kitchen cooking! Sometimes buying in just one or two prepared gourmet meal and preparing everything else yourself is just sufficient to take the stress off you. The web is perhaps the simplest and most time efficient method for looking the perfect supplier of gourmet food online that gets delivered right to your doorstep.

Another explanation for buying gourmet food over the interne may be due to the fact that you may be somewhat deficient in culinary skills or confidence. Hosting a banquet party can be a bit daunting if it’s a very significant occasion and you want to make an impression. That is another reason to go on the web and buy gourmet food.

It’s easy to find local restaurants that serve Indian cuisine with the generic search engines, a local search in search engines, or easier in a restaurant search engine. Unlike the times of the past where review sites were the ultimate option to base your choice of a restaurant, the growing search engine technology has made available vertical search engines, and more specifically – a restaurant guide. The restaurant recommendations bring together all the restaurant information from 15 metros in the US in one neat site. Users can check reviews, ratings, addresses, timings, menus, discount coupons, home delivery services, online reservations from just one site.

The choice of an Indian restaurant largely depends on with whom you are dining. If you are dining with your date, check out the restaurants that offer a romantic evening meal. If you are taking kids and family out for dinner then your choice of ambiance has to be appropriate for a family. Above all, you are there to taste authentic Indian food. And as a diner if you are familiar with good Indian food, then you’ll have certain expectations about the food. So it’s best to base your choice on restaurant reviews and recommendations from friends, family and colleagues. And for a larger canvas of choices refer to local restaurant reviews online and restaurant ratings on food, service and ambiance from the citizens around the globe.

Great food is always available and of course for a price. Choose restaurants based on the recommendations in the restaurants directory. It’s equally important to choose a restaurant that does not burn a hole in your pocket. Indian restaurants are available for all wallet sizes. There are Indian buffets that offer tasty food for a little cost, plenty of medium range restaurants, and there are also several other high-end restaurants to choose from. Even the location of the restaurant is a deciding factor, which too some extent narrows down your choice of a restaurant. The reviews for a restaurant might be just too great to try it, but if you are in San Francisco and the restaurant is in Palo Alto, you’ll just have to mark the restaurant for some other time.

Many foodies would prefer Indian food prepared by an Indian. Another major factor when it comes to trying Indian food is the spice factor. Nowadays most restaurants cater to the lesser spice needs of westerners. And restaurant guides give an insight into all these factors. The perfect dining experience comprises of delicious food, cheerful service and a great ambiance. Go ahead and try your hand at exploring the San Francisco restaurant guide, New York restaurant list, Los Angeles restaurants or restaurants in Chicago.

Make sure your grill is clean and oiled. Fish sticks to the grill very easily, so proper lubrication is essential. If you don’t oil your grill, the fish will stick, and break apart when you try to remove it. Grab a wad of paper towels, or a rolled up kitchen towel in a pair of tongs. Dip the paper towels or kitchen towel into some vegetable oil, and rub the oil onto the grill. You can also spray the grill with cooking spray, just be sure the grill is off when you do this, or the spray could ignite, injuring you.

Use fresh fish if possible, since it is easier to work with than frozen fish. Each serving should be about 6-8 ounces for fillets or steaks, and 8-12 ounces for whole fish. You can place fish directly on the grill, but if you do this, you should use a firm fleshed fish, like grouper, tuna, swordfish, or salmon. You can also buy grill baskets made for grilling seafood. These will help small pieces of fish from falling through the grill, and will help in grilling delicate fillets.

Cook the fish over medium-hot to hot heat. If your grill doesn’t have a thermometer, then hold your hand about 5 inches above the heat. If you can hold your hand there for 2 seconds, the temperature is hot. If you can hold your hand 5 inches from the heat for 3-4 seconds, it is medium hot. If you’re cooking whole fish, you’ll need to have the temperature a bit lower, so the fish won’t burn. You should plan on cooking the fish for about 10 minutes for every inch of thickness. The fish is done cooking when it is opaque, and begins to flake. It is better to undercook the fish a bit than overcooking it. You can always cook it some more if it is undercooked, but you can’t uncook it if it is overcooked.

Marinades are a good way to add flavor and moisture to the fish before cooking. You only need to marinate fish for 30-60 minutes. If you marinate the fish for too long, the acids in the marinade will start to cook and break down the flesh. Lean fish should also be basted during cooking to keep the fish from drying out. Fattier fish, like tuna and salmon don’t need basting, but you can baste them to add more flavor.

Shrimp, Scallops, and chunks of firm fleshed fish work well on skewers. Alternate chunks of seafood with chunks of vegetables on a skewer for great seafood kebobs. If you’re using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from burning on the grill.

Marinades are just a simple way to prepare certain foods that you want to have an extra kick to. Marinades to meats, serve two different purposes to tenderize and to give more flavor. Less fatty foods have a blander taste than most steaks and such. Marinades are just an easy way to tenderize and add a lot more flavor.

To make a marinade you need something of acidic base with herbs and vinegar to make the meats tasty. A marinade with a little bit of chili powder, garlic and oregano with give the food you are a making sort of a Mexican taste. Maybe for an Asian marinade some ginger and sesame seeds with a little soy sauce and hot sauce. A lot of sodas give great taste as well such as sprite goes good with chicken and coca cola is another.

The different foods you may be making are different from each other so you might need a couple of different sauces. Marinades with an acidic base give both flavor and tenderization. These marinades with acidic bases tenderize by unraveling the protein strands in the meats and fish in which you are marinating. When you are using an acidic base marinade never use aluminum or such because it will cause discoloration in the food and might cause it to have a bad taste so just use glass or other plates rather than aluminum.

The other type of marinade is dry marinade. These types are usually made of dry spices and can be rubbed right into the meats which you are trying to add flavor to. This will enhance the flavor but will not do to good as a tenderizer.

Yes, most marinades have a secret ingredient which the chefs refuse to reveal. And marinades without the secret ingredient simply taste bland. Now, when there are hundreds of marinade companies out there, why would you want to try making your own marinade?

Simply log on to any search engine and look for marinades. You will come across hundreds of websites selling these marinades. Wine Country Chef is a good website you should consider when buying marinades online. It is a place where a sense of time and place is skillfully blended with fresh and flavorful ingredients to capture the essence of the wine country. Gourmet marinade with fresh local ingredients and a flavor that captures the essence of the wine country to be enjoyed with chicken and beef.

Wine Country Chef’s mission is simple: to provide the best products and service to customers. Wine Country Chef takes great pride in what it do, the commitment to customer service and in the products it sells. The online store is designed to provide you with a safe and secure environment to browse the product catalog.

The longer you leave food and meats to marinade the more flavor and tender your food is going to be. If you have steaks it is good to either buy a 30 minute marinade or get a better marinade and let it sit and soak in the marinade all night until the next day.

Leftover marinades are useful for sauces but they need to be cooked to a heat that will kill any bacteria that grew over night. These sauces are good to add to fish steak and other foods. Just be sure to kill all the bacteria before you use the leftover marinades.

Beach vacations offer a nice variety of activities, including fine dining. Practically every beach enthusiast looks forward to enjoying seafood while visiting their favorite seaside retreat. Depending on the location, visitors are likely to find excellent options in fresh local seafood. Experienced beach goers might choose to enjoy seafood after a day on the sand, or pack a cooler and take home some of the local items for later.

The northeast USA is home to clams, scallops, lobsters, cod, striped bass, swordfish and other seafood. Visitors to Maine, Massachusetts, New York and other areas are thrilled to find local restaurants and seafood stands where fresh lobster, steam clams and other treasures are served hot and ready to eat. As vacationers move south along the Mid-Atlantic coast, the variety changes to include blue crabs, oysters, saltwater trout, flounder and more.

The Chesapeake Bay area includes Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. Local seafood restaurants, carryouts and markets serve crabs, scallops, oysters, clams, fish and other local items. Delicacies such as steamed crabs, soft crab sandwiches and crabcakes await summertime travelers. In the cooler months, oysters, clams and fish are in season and ready to enjoy.

Beaches along the southern part of the USA feature a different style of cooking and variety of seafood. Once vacationers reach North Carolina and South, shrimp, snapper, cobia and other fish begin to dominate the cuisine. Fresh local shrimp are an integral part of beach cuisine thru the Carolinas, Georgia and into Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. Beach lovers that venture into the Caribbean also find unique seafood dishes that might include unfamiliar dishes such as conch chowder, grilled rock lobster tails, mahi mahi and grouper. The mixture of tropical fruits, spices and local seafood offer visitors with exciting mealtime experiences.

Seafood is extremely nutritional and contains high levels of protein and fish oils, primarily omega-3 which is an essential fat required as part of a good balanced diet. Most of the nutrients, minerals, fatty acids, and amino acids -that your bodies need to develop through childhood and remain healthy throughout life – are present in seafood. Many people laud the virtues of seafood, though some individuals dispute this. Seafood is a natural functional food; with no need to be fortified with other functional food ingredients to make it healthier for you. In fact, some of the health benefits of seafood will be lost, if you bread and deep-fry it. So it is best to grill, bake, steam, broil, boil, microwave, or lightly sauté your seafood.

Without getting too technical, you realize why seafood is such a great functional food. For development and maintenance of musculature throughout our lifetime, your bodies need amino acids – proteins that make body muscle. Good health is the result of nine amino acids that your bodies need on a daily – and all seafood contains all nine of these amino acids. No more, no less!

Another reason why seafood is a functional food is it contains ‘omega-3 fatty acids’ needed to remain healthy. Along wit homega3’s, seafood contains an abundance of this polyunsaturated fatty acid. In some fish species – like sablefish, Anoplopoma fimbria – the omega-3 literally oozes from its flesh. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the bad LDL blood cholesterol levels and increasing the good HDL cholesterol levels. This reduces your chances of cardiovascular disease – reduced chance of strokes and heart attacks.

Another notable fact that makes seafood functional food is that it contains ‘Selenium’ – something your bodies need for maintaining your immunity against disease. Every cell in your body needs Selenium to function properly. Crab and lobster species contain a high amount of Selenium, though seafood in general contains at least some of this vital element. Thus, two of the most delectable crustaceans of the sea are such a rich source of something that your bodies need to fight diseases. That is the benefit being true omnivores, something that true vegans miss out on entirely!

Remember that seafood is not only delicious; it can also provide wonderful benefits to your health.

Although beer is a drink that contains alcohol, the alcohol alone doesn’t make it dangerous to your health. Drinking beer excessively is what leads to hangovers, headaches, and the more severe healthy problems. If you drink beer in moderation and avoid getting drunk, you won’t experience any problems with your health.

One of the most common things people say about beer, is that it makes you fat, hence the term “beer belly”. As a whole, beer contains little to no fat, and there are plenty of beer diets out there that you can use to stay thin. The infamous beer belly is caused by consuming too much alcohol, which affects the body’s ability to burn fat. Even though beer can indeed lead to a “beer belly” if you drink too much of it, if you drink in moderation you should be fine.

Beer contains alcohol, which can drop the natural level of sugar in your blood, leading to low energy levels. If you drink too much beer, you’ll get really tired and go right to sleep. Alcohol in beer will also lower insulin levels as well, which makes it perfect for non diabetics, as it will reduce the risk of arteriosclerosis. In the past, research has linked beer with reducing the risk for heart disease. Beer contains no cholesterol, although it does have antioxidant qualities that can reduce LDL oxidation, with may help reduce your risk of heart disease. Beer is also an excellent source of fiber, stemming from the malted barley. Beer can also help to reduce stress, if you drink it in moderation.

To get the health benefits that beer provides, you should drink one beer a day. You shouldn’t drink any more than this, as it can easily lead to health problems. Alcohol will thin out your blood, which will protect your heart and reduce the risk of strokes as well. In the past, research has even shown moderate consumption of alcohol can help with improving your memory as well. Then again, if you drink it excessively, it can destroy brain cells – the adverse effect.

Beer is also nutritious, although it can destroy your levels of vitamin C as well. Beer is a great source of fiber, as well as other minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, and several B vitamins such as B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, and B12. Beer contains high levels of these vitamins, along with other minerals that are actually good for your body. Although it offers plenty of B vitamins and other minerals your body needs, it will also destroy your vitamin C – which is why you never want to drink too much of it.

Due to the fact that beer contains alcohol, it will always be a diuretic. When you drink beer, you should avoid drinking too much and never, ever, drink beer instead of water. Beer can dehydrate your body fairly quickly, which is one of the biggest cons to drinking beer. Although beer does have several health benefits, they can easily be hindered by drinking too much. To stay on the safe side and avoid headaches and other health effects of beer, you should always drink responsibly, never drink too much – and always drink a few glasses of water when you are drinking beer.

Chicken soup makes you feel better when you are sick. It warms you up on a winter day. It is kid friendly. How can you find anything better? Instead of just opening a can and adding some water, why not try making your own homemade chicken soup? It is not hard at all, and it tastes so good.

Basics for Cooking Chicken Soup

First, you need some chicken bones. These can be leftover from the roast chicken you had last night. Didn’t know you could get two meals out of that single chicken, did you? Put the entire carcass in a stockpot and cover it with several quarts of water. Add some seasonings and a carrot, an onion, some celery and herbs. Bring the water slowly to a boil, and then turn it on low to keep it simmering. Skim off the foam that will appear on the top. This is caused by the protein in the chicken. Do not worry… the good stuff stays in the soup!

Simmer this slowly for several hours… all day if you have the time. Add more water if you need to, although covering it will help reduce the evaporation rate. On the other hand, reducing the stock will intensify the flavors. It all depends on how much soup you need to make to feed your family. Strain the stock. The bones and vegetables can be tossed at this point; they have given all they can.

Add in new vegetables, and the meat you have leftover. If you want to add potatoes, add them with the other vegetables. You may want to add any of the following: turnips, rutabagas, parsnips, carrots, zucchini, sweet potatoes, peppers, onions, or anything else you like. Towards the end, you may want to add some rice or noodles (rice will take longer to cook than noodles), and any vegetables that cook quickly. This may include cabbage, broccoli, or anything else you have left in the garden.

What Else Can You Do with Chicken Soup?

The above description makes a classic chicken soup with a clear yellow stock. However, you may be wondering what else you can do with chicken soup. Creamed chicken soups are hearty, creamy, and delicious. You can serve them plain or you can add a little vegetables or noodles to it. You can thicken a classic chicken soup by adding a roux and make it heartier. You can also turn a chicken soup into chicken and dumplings just by adding the dumplings in for the last twenty minutes of cooking. There is nothing better on a cold winter’s night.

Change the flavor of your chicken soup by adding some ethnic ingredients. Soy sauce, some Asian vegetables, herbs, and some glass noodles make the usual chicken soup seem exotic. Add some spice and tortilla pieces to create a trendy tortilla soup. You can also simplify. Reduce your chicken stock until you have a tasty golden consommé. This consommé can be eaten by itself, used to make gravies and sauces, or frozen for later use.

“Cocktail” is a type of mixed drink which is consumed in many countries. It’s a type of liquor with flavouring agents. It contains fruit juice, sauces, honey, milk, cream or spices. The cocktail had become popular after the prohibition in United States . The disadvantage in buying cocktail is that many bar owners mix both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with the drink. This is very hazardous to consume.

The olden day’s cocktails were made in combination with gin, whisky or rum and with a small amount of vodka. Many cocktails were made traditionally by mixing it with gin which is called as gimlet or martini. This type of mixed drinks was introduced after the period of 1980’s. The word cocktail was determined by Dr. David Wonderich in October 2005.

A benefit of drinking a sip of cocktail is that it will keep you relieved from head aches. “Cocktail” is liquor composed of sugar, water and bitter agents. It is also called as bittered sling. And it is also supposed to be an electioneering potion, since it keeps the heart stout and bold. It is said that a person who swallows one sip of cocktail is ready to swallow anything else. There are several cocktail recipes; they come in different compositions according to the bartenders. In addition of Punches, Sours, Slings, Cobblers, Shrubs, Toddies, Flips, and a variety of other types of mixed drinks were 10 recipes for drinks referred to as “Cocktails”.

The quality and quantity of alcohol present in cocktail is very less when compared to the other alcoholic drinks. The cost of the cocktails also has a big difference when compared to other drinks. So, nowadays bartenders have started preparing cocktails. They are mixed with different types of other drink such as gin, whisky, milk and cream. It is not mixed with water. The ingredients mixed depend upon the region from where you get the drink. While serving cocktails, it is to taken care that you serve the drink in the appropriate glass. The cocktail glass is of a shape with a wide, shallow bowl, on a stem above a flat base. The cocktail glasses are designed in such a shape that the temperature should not change.
